Like the vast majority of horse owners, money is tight at the moment. So I want to share with you some top tips which will not only help the health of your horse but the health of your bank balance too!
This is a super rich natural herbal product with antibacterial and antifungal properties made by Pioneer Herbal and sold by Holistic Equine. It is made for the equine industry but we have found many uses for it, such as;
1) Hoof scrub – the liquid soap is excellent for cleaning and conditioning hooves and is safe and non-necrotizing (doesn’t kill healthy cells). Conditions such thrush, canker, abscesses and cracks all benefit from an antibacterial/antifungal treatment.
2) Wound wash – the herbal properties make this ideal as a gentle yet effective wound wash. It soothes and protects whilst being easy to use!
3) Scab softener – The liquid soap can be gently massaged into sore and scabby areas, gently encouraging the scabs to lift off whilst cleansing the skin and encouraging healing.
4) Body wash / shampoo – we love using this product as a general shampoo for our horses…you can see the scurf lift off whilst protecting the skin beneath.
5) Insect repellent – if used as a body wash we have found it can help repel insects and parasites too!
6) Dog shampoo – yep…it washes the dog too and helps repel parasites!
7) Human hand wash – if like me you are quite sensitive and reactive to chemicals you will appreciate this as a hand wash.
8) Human body wash – well…it doesn’t smell as good as Bodyshop stuff but it gets rid of yard muck!
9) Saddle soap – not only does it clean tack really well but it doesn’t harm the sensitive skin of horses!
10) Numnah and equipment wash – our horses are sensitive souls and finding safe detergent is difficult so if you don’t mind your whites not coming out glo-white bright and shiny, then this is a super soap to use! We have pet rats and wash their little duvets and hammocks in this too…just add a tablespoon of the Pioneer Herbal liquid soap onto the things you want to wash and wash on a low and economic quick wash and it is good for the environment and saves on electricity too!
